Food grade plastics for processing and packaging lines

Wear components and contact surfaces for high-throughput food, beverage and dairy lines. Grade selection accounts for direct contact status, caustic and acid CIP chemistry, wet abrasion and, where a line requires it, metal detectability and colour contrast for foreign-body control.

Supply chain standards

The standards we require from our supply chain

Food-contact conformity is a property of a specific grade and lot, not of a material family. We require documented conformity from certified manufacturing partners before a grade is offered for contact service.

Certifications listed are held by certified manufacturing partners in our supply chain. Damrix is a distributor and does not hold manufacturing certification.

Sector requirements

What drives grade selection on a food line

The four conditions below govern nearly every food-line failure we are asked to review. Each is answerable before material is committed.

REQ 01

Wet abrasion

Product carry-over, sugars and grit accelerate wear on guide rails and wear strips. UHMW-PE holds the highest abrasion index of any thermoplastic in slurry conditions.

REQ 02

CIP chemistry

Caustic and peracetic cycles at elevated temperature embrittle some grades. Chemical compatibility is confirmed against your actual cleaning concentration and dwell time.

REQ 03

Foreign-body control

Metal-detectable and X-ray visible grades, plus blue contrast colouring, are available in UHMW-PE and acetal for HACCP-controlled zones.

REQ 04

Dimensional stability

Moisture uptake shifts fit on close-tolerance filler and capper parts. Acetal and PET-P are specified where nylon would grow out of tolerance.

Grades applied in this sector

Grades below are carried with food-contact documentation available on selected variants. Confirm the specific grade before committing to a contact application — a family flag is not a grade certificate.

Documentation

What ships with the material

Documentation is issued against the shipped lot and is intended to drop directly into a HACCP or food-safety file without further chasing.
